Whitney Fosco, Ph.D.
Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Fosco is a licensed psychologist specializing in attention, childhood behavior challenges, and parent-child relationships. She is especially passionate about supporting parents who experience overwhelming emotions that lead them to act in ways that are not always consistent with their values and how they want to parent. Dr. Fosco believes that every parent and child are trying their best with the resources available, but most caregivers today simply do not have the supports and tools they need to be able to show up as the parents they want to be. Her goal is to equip parents with a deeper understanding of their own emotions, their emotional triggers, and practical strategies for strengthening their ability to regulate and manage emotions so that they can parent from a calm, connected, and centered place.
Dr. Fosco’s clinical approach is trauma-informed, highly collaborative, and tailored to each families’ specific strengths and needs. While her work is rooted in evidence-based practice and informed by the scientific literature, she recognizes that evidence-based practices were developed for predominantly White, middle-class children in traditional nuclear family systems and often need to be modified for historically under-served and excluded folks, including BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ families.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Fosco is a research and data nerd – having published 26 peer-reviewed articles on ADHD and related topics and receiving the Early Career Scientist Award from the organization Children and Adults with ADHD (CHADD). She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Cognitive Neuroscience, using neuroimaging to better understand attention in youth with ADHD. These experiences allow her to bring a deep understanding of the science and neuroscience of child development and mental health to her clients.
WHITNEY FOSCO IS A LICENSED PSYCHOLOGIST WITH THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE BOARD OF EXAMINERS OF PSYCHOLOGISTS (PA LICENSE #PS019504).
