Trauma Response in Times of Crisis
You have survived an unimaginable tragedy.
The recent flooding of the Guadalupe River in Central Texas has left behind so much more than physical destruction; it has shattered families, stolen young lives, and shaken entire communities to their core.
The heartbreak is especially deep as we mourn the loss of so many children with lives still full of promise, taken far too soon at camps like Camp Mystic. But we also grieve the many adults who lost their lives; parents, caregivers, sisters, brothers, grandparents, friends, colleagues, and neighbors; each one a vital part of their family and community. Each with countless people who loved them. And we ache, too, for those still with us—who watched their homes wash away, who lost businesses built over decades, cherished pets, irreplaceable memories, and any sense of safety they once knew.
These losses are profound, and the emotional wounds left behind will take far longer to heal than the physical damage. For the children and families who survived, fear, confusion, and grief may become constant companions.
At Thriving Child Center, we understand that trauma like this requires a response, so we are responding with urgency and care.
This trauma clinic was created to provide specialized, compassionate support for children and families affected by this unimaginable tragedy, because healing can’t wait, and no one should have to carry this weight alone.
