When your family faces an unexpected challenge like family conflict, a child exhibiting behavior problems, or a traumatic event, it can be a confusing and stressful time. Even happy events like the birth of a baby, a new job, or the blending of families can create stress and upheaval. Dr. Denika Douglas is a licensed psychologist and licensed specialist in school psychology with a passion for helping children, adolescents, adults, and families navigate these difficult situations. Through a collaborative approach and the use of solution-focused, data-supported interventions, Dr. Douglas will work with you to build strengths, foster resiliency, and develop coping skills.

Dr. Douglas earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston. She trained at Texas Children’s Hospital and the Houston Independent School District where she gained experience in educational and psychological assessment; play therapy; individual, family, and group therapy; parent and teacher training; and consultation. In addition to working with Thriving Child Center, Dr. Douglas serves as the Interim Chair of the Psychology Department at Texas Southern University.
