We are certain that we can help you thrive!

Adults can experience distress related to difficult life changes or problems that have been getting worse over time. You don't need to be in "crisis" to benefit from psychotherapy--an experienced clinician using an evidence-based approach can help you improve your ability to cope with distress, make the decisions that are consistent with your values and goals, and be more resilient when you face challenges in the future. Although we are called Thriving Child Center, we are experienced and enjoy working with adults one-on-one.

Depression and Anxiety

Feelings of sadness, stress, or fear can interfere with your ability to meet your goals and thrive in your life.  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based that teaches people to change their mood and worries by changing their thoughts and behaviors. • Psychological evaluations are important for diagnosing mental and developmental difficulties in adults. It is important to understand yourself and your learning style so that you can be successful in the ways that are important to you. You may need a formal evaluation to receive services at school or for accommodations on formalized exams or to be prescribed certain medications. Clinicians at Thriving Child Center do in-depth psychological testing to determine whether you may meet criteria for:

    • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD)

    • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Psychological testing can take 2-6 hours and will include both remote interventions over teletherapy and in-person testing:

    • A detailed interview with you

    • Questionnaires to be completed by you about your emotions and behaviors

    • Questionnaires to be completed by others who know your well

    • Completion of psychological testing measures with the clinician

  • After the evaluation is done, the clinician reviews all of the information from the evaluation and writes a comprehensive psychological report that you can keep for your records and share with your school and doctors. If you are a student at Baylor College of Medicine and meet criteria for accommodations, the report will be written according to the necessary guidelines required by BCM. The clinician will invite you back to go over the report and diagnosis, answer your questions, and help you develop a treatment plan.
