Dr. Melissa Mignogna specializes in pediatric/child assessment and treatment. Her primary clinical interests include the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, ADHD, and pediatric chronic illnesses. She is also experienced in treating pediatric feeding disorders (i.e., picky eaters), encopresis, social anxiety, school avoidance/refusal, recurrent pain, headaches, and conversion disorders. Dr. Mignogna utilizes numerous evidence based treatments in her practice, including Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and cognitive behavioral therapy. She is experienced in conducting psychological evaluations, including assessment of autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, ADHD, and personality evaluations. Dr. Mignogna is a strong advocate for multidisciplinary team approaches to assessment/treatment, and regularly consults with physicians, schools, and other professionals in providing a continuum of care.

She received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Oklahoma State University. Her pre-doctoral internship was completing the pediatric/child psychology track at the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) and included becoming a member of the LEND (i.e., Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities) network of training institutions. At UAB, she gained extensive training in the assessment of children presenting with complex developmental, behavioral, medical, and psychological difficulties. Dr. Mignogna completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH), where she further developed her expertise in pediatric psychology and gained experience in providing consultations for hospitalized children/adolescents in addition to outpatient psychotherapy services.
