Psychological evaluations are important for diagnosing mental and developmental difficulties in adults. It is important to understand yourself and your learning style so that you can be successful in the ways that are important to you. You may need a formal evaluation to receive services at school or for accommodations on formalized exams or to be prescribed certain medications. Clinicians at Thriving Child Center do in-depth psychological testing to determine whether you may meet criteria for the following conditions:

  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Learning Disability

Psychological testing can take 2-6 hours and may include:

  • A detailed interview with you
  • Questionnaires to be completed by you about your emotions and behaviors
  • Questionnaires to be completed by others who know your well
  • Completion of psychological testing measures with the clinician

After the evaluation is done, the clinician reviews all of the information from the evaluation and writes a comprehensive psychological report that you can keep for your records and share with your school and doctors. If you are a student at Baylor College of Medicine and meet criteria for accommodations, the report will be written according to the necessary guidelines required by BCM. The clinician will invite you back to go over the report and diagnosis, answer your questions, and help you develop a treatment plan.
